A Summer to Remember, The Beginning

I want to be more philosophical about this post. Mainly because I'm feeling alot of concentrated mushiness on the topic...but I'm not sure how this is gonna go down.
This past summer was one for the books! I mean from the end of May to the beginning of September, we were hoppin'!  This season of motherhood for me is winding down in major areas and just gaining speed in others.
This second grader in 2008 (when I began blogging) affectionately known as Boofus, The Boofdawg, Boofinator, Boof Boof (thx to Bee), Boof, Sasquatch, or Joseph as I call him most days, THIS little cub scout right here:

 He grew up!

He graduated from High School!  It was a day that strengthened my faith in prayers, because school is not his thing, yet.  He didn't mind going, but man, did he hate homework. He had to pick up speed near the finish line; we weren't sure how long we'd have to hold our breath until he crossed, but cross it he did. By the grace of a few teachers and counselors, he made it!

What can I say about this young man?  Well, he's now an Elder of the Melchizedek Priesthood, ordained by his own father, and preparing for a mission soon.
The last time we measured him, he stood at 6'7" tall.
That means we shop at the Big and Tall section. We buy his size 16 shoes online. His sleeves are never long enough for his sasquatch arms--thus, the rolled up cuffs.
He is still his father's shadow.
If Mr. W is doing anything, and I mean, anything at all,
Joseph is right there next to him. His favorite place to be, just like the sign says!

This summer he spent more hours than I know, at the lakes and ocean fishing.
He rented this 14' kayak for a day to try it out for a future purchase and was as happy as a clam.

Joseph's love of the outdoors is a blessing in his life. The sunshine and physical activities keep him happy and busy.  He has matured alot this summer alone.
Short term he's working at Home Depot to save for a mission.
He's thinking after hunting season he'll start the process of filling out mission papers.  And then the greatest adventure of his life will begin!

And that's how our Summer began, Part 1.
