Wednesday Whatevs
We put an offer on a house.
It's a Short Sale house.
I'm already decorating it in my mind.
Supposed to close mid-June.
Dani and Mr. Idaho are leaving tomorrow for their big adventure
in the Lone Star State.
They are, in fact, taking the Ninja Baby with them.
We hate that.
They'll be gone until late August.
Mr. Idaho is doing an internship with Chevron-something-or-other
for his degree.
The next time we see them,
they'll have a new baby,
and we'll be in a new house.
The real estate presentation went really well last week.
My partner, Kelly and I had fun like we always do.
As part of our love for the community,
we've initiated a service to work with
Short Sale and Pre-foreclosure homeowners/realtors
to stage their houses for Free.
The idea for that came after my own house-hunting experience
and I'm excited to help those that need it.
The truth is,
empty homes affect the morale of neighborhoods,
local economy,
and the families that live inside of those homes
who can't afford to have their home professionally staged
so that they can join the competition.
So that's where we come in.
The realtors were interested in this,
so we'll see what happens!
The Winner of the Women of Hope cd
is
Number 5 commenter:
Mitchell4.
Please contact me so I can forward your address
to Deseret Book and they'll get that out to you!
Congratulations!
Congratulations!
Happy Hump Day!

The rest of the story
First, I'm not certain what happened,
but I'm pretty sure I did not have a heart attack.
Altho' I had, what the docs and nurses are calling,
"classic symptoms of a heart attack in women."
Details:
Monday night,
as I was going to sleep,
I turned to my Mr. W and said,
"I'm not doing so well."
He asked if he could do anything,
and I just said 'no'.
I was really tired,
but I couldn't sleep--
my arm was hurting,
so I got up and stayed up
until around 1am.
Tuesday:
Worked all day at the showroom,
then went to a friend's house (hi Wendy!)
to give her some home staging tips,
as their family is preparing to move.
THEN,
took all the yahoos to Church
for mid-week activities.
Mr. W and I were sitting in the lobby
chatting about our day,
when there began shooting pains
up and down my left arm.
I tried rubbing my arm,
and even commented to Mr W that
my arm really hurt and I had no idea why.
Just at that exact moment,
we overheard the Scout leader in the other room
tell his scouts
"pain down the left arm is a common symptom of a heart attack."
Now, I'm thinkin' no way this is a heart attack,
because I'm not feeling like it is--
I'm not anxious,
my chest is not pounding,
I'm not sweating like a stuck pig in Mississippi in July--
I'm just sitting
and my arm is killing me.
I overheard the Scout leader tell his audience
that the first aid thing to do is take an aspirin.
Mr W and I look at each other,
and since there's a Walgreens literally across the street,
he goes over and buys some aspirin.
Just in case.
The hour passes,
the pain stays the same,
only it travelled up to my neck and jaw.
Still,
I'm able to talk and walk around,
so I'm not too concerned.
After classes are all over
and we're leaving,
I caught the Scout leader
and told him what's going on
and ask him what are the other symptoms of
a heart attack.
He looks at me very seriously and tells me to go to the ER.
I'm still thinking I'll just go home and take an ALEVE
and go to bed.
We pack up the yahoos into the car
and just before we get home,
my arm is hurting so much,
I can't ignore it,
and can't talk or think over it.
So we dropped the yahoos off at home,
and headed over to the ER.
Did you know that when you present at the ER desk
with the words:
"I have shooting pains down my left arm,
and into my neck and jaw."--
that they whisk you right into the triage
and you are inducted right then into the
"hospital army of patients".
No kidding.
There's no turning back.
The powers that BE
sorta own you for the next few hours of your life.
EKG, Catscan, Chest x-ray, blood work.
I was really wishing for an ALEVE and a nap.
At 10 pm I looked at the clock and thought,
"Darn, I missed NCIS."
Morphine.
Morphine is crazy stuff.
I was a morphine virgin...
I told the nurse that I'm super-sensitive to drugs.
But she didn't really understand how sensitive--
and to her credit,
how could she, right?
When she told me the doc had prescribed 4-8 units,
I suggested two. or less.
She said we'd try two.
An hour and a half later,
I was told to never never never
allow that to be given to me
ever ever ever
again.
I was given just 1/4 of one unit
and I was rendered completely incapacitated--
but I could still hear the people in the room.
Weird.
Couldn't talk,
or move
or open my eyes,
but I could hear people
saying,
"Are you still with us?"
"Dawn! Don't you leave!"
And in my head I was thinking,
"I hear ya knockin' but you can't come in..."
Totally weird.
You know how they say comatose patients can possibly hear,
I totally get it now.
Anywho, after all the tests were done,
turns out my heart is fine.
I still have to see a Cardiologist,
and have to slow down (yeah right),
but we don't know what caused my body
to express those symptoms.
I do get to take a baby aspirin every day.
There's a plus.
I like the orange-flavored kind.
But Mr W bought the kind you swallow,
300-count,
so NEXT year,
I'm buying them my self.
The fall-out at home was interesting.
While we were very calm about going to the ER,
the Boofus was not calm at all.
He called Nana in Provo--
though his details were sketchy:
"Dad took Mom to the ER."
Nana: "Why? What's wrong?"
Boofus: "I don't know."
Nana: "Let me speak to Daisie."
Daisie: "Yeah? Oh yeah, nuthin'. Her arm hurt. She's fine."
Nana: "Let me speak to Bee."
Bee: "Mom had pain shooting up her left arm. Brother S. told her she could be having a heart-attack and to go to the ER to check it out."
In the words of the oldest girls, our ten year old is smarter than the rest of 'em.
I've been saying that a long time.
Anyway,
we got a ration of cr*p the next day,
when the oldest kids heard what had happened
and had gotten no phone calls:
Dani: "I can't believe I had to find out Mom was in the Er with a possible heart attack on FACEBOOK!
What's wrong with you people? I'm an hour away! Why would the kids call Nana--she's 8 hours away!"
--and other ramblings of her concerns about communication.
The truth is, we didn't know what was going on so there was nothing to tell.
I did get a blessing from Mr W and our Home Teacher while in the ER, and I was good.
Maybe that's what kept me from going towards the light
when I had too much morphine? who knows.
Wednesday was a blur.
I stayed in bed all day long.
I think I had a morphine hangover.
I went to work for a few hours yesterday.
And I was super tired last night.
I think it's due to all the hospital-induced adrenalin,
ya know?
That is one wild ride.
My visiting teachers brought over dinner last night,
for which I am so so so grateful.
And you know what else they brought me?
A beautiful hand-made quilt.
For me.
I bawled when I saw it the first time.
A loving gesture that I will not ever forget.
Thanks to everyone who expressed
concern and good thoughts.
Also,
if you ever have to go to the ER for say,
something like the flu
a sprained ankle
or the like,
here's a suggestion:
Present your self there and say,
"I feel lousy--my head is stuffy, my throat is on fire AND
I have shooting pains down my left arm
that's radiating up to my jaw."
They'll get you right in,
they won't even let you sit down
in the waiting room.
No kidding.
No really, I'm kidding.
Don't do that.
That would be wrong on so many levels.
But wow! if you do have those symptoms,
lemme tell you,
those ER people move their bahooeys
STAT!
Okay, so that's over with,
here's what's really important:
PUH- LEEZ don't forget to enter the giveaways
for the Josh Wright cd
or the Hilary Weeks' book and cd.
They are really wonderful!
but I'm pretty sure I did not have a heart attack.

Things That Inspire Me: Lists, Books and Give-O-Giveaways
It's a quiet morning here on this side of the Rockies.
The clouds are hanging so low
that the hillsides are hidden beneath them.
The house is quiet too,
after Spring Break everyone's back to school.
It's just me and the dog
and a small pile of laundry that's calling my name.
Since Nana left last week,
she's called daily to share her adventures with us.
Before she left,
we both sat down and created "The List"--
if you're a woman and you're reading this,
I know you made your own List when you were young,
right?
1. Sense of humor.
2. Honest.
3. Respectful.
and on and on it goes...
The List contains the finer points of character we want in a companion.
Nana wrote her own list years ago,
when she was just a teenager
but as she's changed,
so has her List.
So we sat together, and I tapped out on the keys
while she dictated,
then we printed it up in a smaller font
so she could fold that little paper up
and keep it close
as she goes out in the college scene dating world.
At 6:38 Saturday morning the phone rang
and I jumped outta bed knowing it was Nana!
You know, there should be a different ring tone
for Emergency calls,
and "Hey, Mom, I'm up early and just wanted to hear your voice"-calls.
Just saying.
After a few minutes,
she said she was out in her car,
reading "The List"--
because she'd been away from home just 24 hours
and a few young men were coming on pretty strong
so much so
that she needed to sort them out,
if you will.
What sort surprised me
was that some of these young men are well into their 20's-almost 30's--
Nana will be 21 next Fall.
Some 30 year old comes along,
and I wanna poke him in the eye
or
ping him with a baseball bat!
Unless he's willing to sit through an hour or two
of interrogation--
then we can talk. lol
I digress...
so Nana had her list in her car
and was out there reading it
at six-thirty in the morning.
She's a small town girl
who doesn't wanna get her head turned
in the first twenty-four hours away from home.
So she's reading her list
and talking to her Mom.
At 6:38am.
I miss her.
More than pie.
Speaking of Lists,
Daisie is stepping up being Numero Uno around here.
Hey, she's #5 in the line-up,
but now that she's the oldest at home,
we all wondered how she'd handle it
and I must say,
I'm impressed!
While I have had to work,
she has made sure that I came home to a reasonably sane house--
dishes done,
clutter free,
cookies made,
and youngest yahoos still breathing.
And she made a list too--
a Chore List with just the 3 yahoos' names on it.
I really appreciated that.
And she made a list too--

I really appreciated that.
She's really coming into her own.
It's actually inspiring.

Speaking of Inspiring--
I received two beautiful goodies from Deseret Book--
one is a CD by Josh Wright.
His CD arrived with this introduction:
"The twenty-two year-old performer has already proven himself elite in the world of classical music by competing in the prestigious Gina Bachauer International Artists Piano Competition, of which only 38 performers from around the world were invited to. Wright was one of five Americans to play."

I put it on while I was making dinner Saturday night
and we kept it on while eating dinner...
now, you know something is awesome when noone is talking over it!
Josh is classically trained to perfection--
his talent is obvious and lovely.
Some of his arrangements happen to include my
ALL-TIME favorite songs--
Clair De Lune
Homeward Bound--
so moving that I nearly dropped tears
into my salad!
He reminds me of William Joseph and Jon Schmidt.
You can go here to get acquainted and order his CD.
Seriously, you'll want this in your music collection.
The music is timeless and beautiful.
Well done, Josh!

Well done, Josh!
To know her is to love her.
If you don't know who she is,
you need to find out!
She used to live in Colorado
many moons ago,
and I met her thru a mutual friend
when she was invited to perform in our Stake.
Hilary writes music about Christ as someone who knows Him.
Hilary writes music about Christ as someone who knows Him.
Hillary is as lovely in person as she is on Stage.
If you've been to BYU's Women's Conference,
you've had the privilege of hearing her music,
her down-to-earth ruminations of Motherhood and cheerios.
So she's written a book--
a collection of what she calls
"The Simple Joys of a Mom's Life"
entitled
The cool thing about this book is that she has included
a CD with it--
and it's way cute!
Sweet songs and tidbits about her "favorite things",
all of it inspiring and spot-on!
This is a book that you'll want to not only
RECEIVE,
it's a book you'll want to
GIVE--
to your mom,
your sisters,
your girlfriends,
your daughters,
your daughters,
any gal in your circle of young mothers
that need to know they're not alone
in the mountains of laundry,
sticky cheerios,
and wee hours of the night with a tiny baby.
Oh, and there are recipes!!
There's one in particular that I am gonna try
this next weekend,
called simply,
"The Cheese Dish".
Gotsta try it!

YES!
I say, YES!
They have about ever' dang thing you can think of,

Winner! Winner! Chicken Dinner!
I'll have to come up with something

cuz right now the well is done dry.
Also, thanks to some awesome folks at
Deseret Book,
I have the opportunity to review some new media

I am so. stinkin. happy about that!
Here's a peek at what's coming:
Josh Wright.
I don't know why/how I got so lucky
but if I ever thought about playin' the Lotto,
it would be right about NOW...
but we've already discovered that God will never let me
feel "lucky"
back when I went to Phoenix in October '09
with the best travelling buddy in the world,
Nan--
who played
and won over 700.00 in cash
at gas station slot machines
all the way down there
and all the way back.
IN about 15 minutes total.
I am not kidding.
Whereas, when I plunked down my three bucks,
I got nill...
if it weren't for bad luck,
I'd have no luck at all.
And YET,
this whole Deseret Book deal is giving me
that good lucky feeling
like I am the lucky one,
yessirreebob.
There are other things in the works
with this lil blog o' mine,
but I'm a patient woman,
so we'll see.
IN real life --harhar--
I'm busy with my staging-slash-re-design stuff
and eatin' that up like a fat kid on a cupcake!
Working on window treatments for some gals this week.
I love sewing square things.
Did you know it's hip to be square?
Totally.
What is it about Spring that calls out the
Sewing Bug??
Do you get that way too?
Ok Ok,
so back to the CNS Giveaway:
Name 1 of the 3 songs and artists that are
mysteriously hidden in this post.
Mwahahaha...
first person to get it right, wins!
See? eventually the ol' cogs get going in there
and I come up with something!
Now, play away!
oh, the Giveaway is worth
$40 whole whopping dollars!
Get busy!

Take Luck!
I usually have 3 days off work a week--
Friday or Saturday
Sunday and Monday.
I'm home this morning because the Boofus is way sick.
He slept in my bed last night
so I could keep an eye on him and tend to his needs.
Mr W slept in his bed--
so he could get some sleep b/c of course,
he still had work today.
The Boofus had a rough night,
which means I had a rough night.
I'm taking him to the doctor this morning at 11:30
and see what's up.
I hate it when the yahoos are sick, don't you?
But on the flip side,
I'm home.
And I'm usually scheduled out on my days off
so that I don't get alot done around the house--
like cleaning junk drawers or the laundry room,
being creative and moving things around.
But for whatever reason,
I've got energy to do this stuff today
before I hit that inevitable brick wall of
exhaustion--
yeah I know it's there--
but for right now,
I'm pretending it's not.
Cuz I've got things to do.
*Changing Sheets
*Washing Pillows
*Lysol-ing the house down to kill them thar bugs.
*Cleaning that one junk drawer that has birthday napkins, sparklers, shishkabob stix, birthday candles, take out menus, and heaven only knows what else.
*Sweeping up the 4" layer of dryer lint in the laundry room so as to avert a fire danger.
*Move my family room furniture around since I got a new ottoman for my birthday. What? Like I'd want diamonds or froo-froo stuff for my 49th bday? I don't think so. I wanted a peice of furniture that the whole family could put their feet on and think about ME. Whoa--is that freudian or what?? lol
*Clean up the loft/office space of shoes, plates, dvds, and whatsits.
*Water the plants!
* Take out dinner and get that going in the crockpot.
Yeah, I've got loads to do today.
Wish me luck!
Oh and if you've gotten this far,
if you know who coined the phrase of my blog title today,
and leave it in my comments box,
you'll totally make my day.
First Correct Answer Wins!

A Day To Remember 10-10-10
It's 10-10-10 today.
Which I think is kinda cool.
In honor of this cool day,
I am sharing a special review I've been asked to
participate in...
CSN Stores has invited me to review
a product of my choice from their
many
many
many
awesome websites...
I looked over them all
CSN Stores has over 200 online stores where you can find anything you need whether it be a stylish handbag, a chic bar stool or even cute cookware!
And after much
oogling
and ohhh-ing
and ahhh-ing
I chose this
Cuisinart Elite 4 Cup Chopper/Grinder - CH-4DC
So when it arrives,
I get to try it out!
I've always wanted a Cuisinart.
And my current food processor is outta comission
on account of my dropping the bowl and
breaking it.
So we'll see if this fulfills all of my cuisinart-food-chopping-and-grinding-dreams.
Thanks CSN!!
