Well, I'm checking out my "Friends Favorite Turkey Day Recipes"
and, uh, well,
I thought I had more than three friends who celebrated Turkey Day.
C'mon! People share whatcha know!
What do your families' mouths drool over on Turkey Day?
Inquiring minds (and tummies) wanna know!
Today I am Grateful For:
My 2002 Suburban with 138,037 miles on it.
It has taken us from Colorado Springs to
Utah
more times than I can count,
and to Glacier Park, Montana,
Spokane, WA.,
Baker City, OR.,
Boise, Idaho,
Rexburg, ID
Yellowstone National Park,
Oklahoma City
Houston, TX
Phoenix, AZ
Albuquerque, NM
and back again!
There's enough food in between the seats
to feed a small island of children;
it lost that "new car" smell about six seconds
after we owned it;
it has a cracked windshield--a known side-affect
of living in Colorado;
it can haul everything I could ever want to take
anywhere,
and I AM the Queen of the Road when I'm driving it!
Grateful for my big honkin' Suburban
n' praying she gets thru one more winter.
That's what I'm thankful for today--
what about you?
I was the first person on the recipe link-up. I was wondering the same thing. Come on people! :)
ReplyDeleteYour suburban is a treasure! Hope it holds out too.
Our table doesn't usually hold anything outside of the traditional foods. Turkey. Mashed Potatoes. Green beans. Stuffing. Rolls. Sometimes funeral potatoes. Always pumpkin pie.
ReplyDeleteYour Suburban sounds very reliable and filled with great memories. As for what I am thankful for today . . . the other members of my activities committee who get their assignments done on time, and the people in the ward not on the committee who just pitch in and help anyway!! Our Trunk or Treat was great and everyone is already working hard on the Christmas party--for which I am very grateful. It is always nice to have help on big projects.:-)
ReplyDeleteDawn,
ReplyDeleteI am thankful that I get to come on your blog every day and read your thoughts! I love my blog friends and their wonderful way with words.

Today I am thankful that the Giants won and that my husband is having so much fun with it. He actually left work just now to go into the streets and enjoy the parade. Just what that overworked guy needed!

I'm thankful that I no longer have a big ol' honkin' Suburban! Mine was a money pit, even when you didn't figure in filling up that kajillion gallon gas tank! Of course I don't need all that room anymore since my oldest ones are grown, so I'm thankful for my Honda Civic that could probably fit in the back seat of your Suburban! (and dang, that cranberry salsa looks good. I don't have any turkey day recipes that I can think of other than green bean casserole which you can find on the back of the fried onion can!)
ReplyDeleteI am NOT a big fan of my '02 Suburban. It keeps dying on me in inconvenient ways. I am already planning its demise and replacement with a younger, better looking model. But otherwise you description of yours sounds a lot like mine!
ReplyDeleteI know I saw the recipe thing the other day and I am just not quite to the Thanksgiving stuff yet. Sorry. I am your friend. I will work on it. (hanging head).
ReplyDeleteI love that you love your "burb". I have a Tahoe and I feel the same way - I love driving that big mama!!
I thought I was the only one with this unusual attachment to automobiles - my little 2002 Subaru has 197,000 miles on it and I just LOVE it. I haul my dogs around in the back, the kids snowboards fit up in the box on the top just right, I love that it gets me to and from my work in the middle of the night in the middle of a blizzard several times each winter. Please don't die . . . please don't die . . . please don't die!

I keep meaning to post our favorite traditional Thanksgiving recipe, but I get caught up in real life! I'll dig it out later-it's a chiffon pumpkin pie that has been passed down for over 3 generations!! I'm grateful for your gratitude posts!
