I'm re-reading a book, "Parenting With Love- making a difference in a Day" by Glenn I. Latham--and from it I am engaging in a new experiment. Glenn shared his documented research in which is stated that there are 4 Basic Principles of Human Behavior:
1 of the 4- Behavior is Largely a Product of its immediate Environment...and "Appropriate Touch"is one of the components that has "healing power and generally beneficial effects on health" and relationships. It can come in many forms: a hug, a pat on the back, a gentle stroking of the arm, even an elbow in the ribs of an adolescent boy by his playful and affectionate father."
He used the example of one of his daughters' who'd made a poster in her room:
"Four Hugs per day for Survival,
Eight Hugs for Maintenance,
and Twelve for Growth."
So that is going to be my experiment. I'm gonna chart it, listing each person in the house, put the poster in the Kitchen, and get the whole family involved in the "BIG LOVE EXPERIMENT", to bring more appreciation and kindness in our home--because who doesn't need that??!
It is Valentines Week afterall...so here we go.
I will share results when/if I see any!
I'll be watching for updates!!
