The Storm blew in yesterday afternoon.
It hovered for hours.
The dark clouds moved slowly
with sheets of rain
covering the hills and valleys alike.
Everything looked ominous.
Thoughts mimicking the scenery.
How bad would it get?
How bad could it get?
What would be left to deal with?
I took cover.
Laid by my boy and soothed his hurts
scratched up knees n banged up elbows.
Used words of encouragement,
"You'll be alright. Just calm yourself down.
Take deep breaths. Drink some water.
Have some ice cream. I'm right here.
Relax, it's all gonna be okay. You'll see."
And then, I listened to the words
in my own ears.
Read the words of encouragement
and cheer from friends who care.
Who've faced their own storms.
Who know about rain and rainbows.
"You'll be alright. Just calm yourself down.
Take deep breaths. Drink some water.
Have some ice cream. I'm right here.
Relax, it's all gonna be okay. You'll see."
The rain fell.
The storm passed.
My boy came in this morning
"how are you?"
"Better." says he.
Me too.
It's a new day.
Time to move on.
I am glad you are feeling better today. I am sorry you have been struggling. I tried to post a comment on your blog three different times yesterday but for some reason it wouldn't post. At any rate, I am glad that today is a better day, and I agree with the comments that were posted, somehow everything seems to work out, sometimes it is just a bit painful while it happens. Best of luck to you.
ReplyDeleteLove the poetry! It's a fun way to add some spice to blog posts, don't ya think? :) Have a happy & safe 4th of July!
