A Day of Rest *OR* The Caboose's Holiday Bathroom Celebration!

Yesterday, we didn't go to Church.
It's been a long, emotional week for me,
with running up to Loveland,
the mess with Dean,
working and all,
I woke up feeling ambivalent about going to Church.
I needed some rest.

The idea of getting myself and the yahoos ready for Church--
Mr W had to work again, yesterday--
was more than I wanted to wrap my brain around.
So we actually stayed home and had ourselves
a Day of Rest.

I puttered around in my pj's until 4pm, no kidding.
I puttered away,
frittering away time
by doing next to nothing all day.
I tossed in a load of laundry,
changed out the Scentsy warmer with
actual wax with scent in it--
the other wax brick was long scent-less.
We put on Christmas music,
ate leftovers,
and I put a chicken on the rotisserie
for dinner.
And relaxed.
And pondered.
Just being still.

Puttering is good for the soul.
I think Socrates may have said that,
or maybe it was Erma Bombeck,
I'm not sure.

Anywho,
the "puttering bug" was contagious--
The Caboose asked if she could use whatever she wanted
to decorate her bathroom.
I gave the go-ahead,
and this,
Ladies and Gentlemen,
is her creation:

While I myself, had never thought to put
a Holy Nativity in the loo
between the lavatories,
once there,
I suddenly felt like having a baby Jesus in the loo
was possibly the most creative idea in the world.
It transformed the bathroom into a sweet little magical world.

And on the practical side,
both The Caboose and yon Boofus
brushed their teeth a long time this morning.

Totally a Win-Win.

P.S. She took a bath in there last night--I could hear her singing christmas carols too!

  1. That is so cute. I'm worried about those cotton balls getting soggy though. What a great place.

    Brushing their teeth long rocks.

I also think that a nice tub filled with bubbles would be awesome with just the Christmas lights on too.
Let me know how that works out.

  6. That sounds like she had way too much fun!! I love it when things fall into place like that. I think a day of puttering sounds like a good thing. Too bad I have to teach the Sunbeams. They don't like it when I take a day off!!
