Call it "payback" if you will.
Or just
Good, Clean Fun.
But strapping/harnessing your kids up and
belaying them up concrete walls is what all the cool kids are doing these days.
This is the place
they love most to go:
City Rock
downtown Colorado Springs.
It's not a bad way to spend an afternoon with the yahoos.
They get some great exercise,
learn some creativity skills,
n' we do it together.
There are all sorts of climbing trails--for the novices who need lots of steps and grips,to trails for experts and wanna-be experts...it's all there and we're all using the same kind of gear...
so this is one sport that the kids can grow up with and it doesn't cost an arm and a leg...as long as you're safety minded!
The Caboose is a natural at this...
she being the curtain climber she is,
took right to climbing up walls.
The Boof-dog looks drugged
but he's just high
on life.
har har
The Caboose likes free climbing...
no strings on these walls,
but the floor is padded,
so there'd be a soft landing if she falls.
This is a really great way
to be active in the middle of winter!
I highly recommend it!
The kids love it,
and it's not expensive--
even if you have to rent your gear;
totally worth it!
That is fun that your whole family enjoys climbing together!
ReplyDeleteI'm a teensy (BIGTIME!) bit scared of heights so I have taken my kids to places like this but I stay on the ground and look up - hee hee!
It's great to find activities that everyone loves even though they are different ages.
Um, you probably already know this but your kids are growing up really fast!! When the heck did they start looking like grown-ups?
ReplyDeleteI used to climb all over and have been many places across the western united States. When my older yahoos were small, they went with me a few times and also grew to love it. I have not been for a long time. We don't have anyplace like this where we live, and I am not as young as I used to be, to pack in and pack out all the gear. I love this idea, and will have to see if I can find places like this a little closer to us. I know my kids would totally love it, (after they freaked about the height!)
ReplyDeleteLooks like a great activity that the whole family can participate in.
ReplyDelete=)
Very cool! Even though I will never get up on a wall.
ReplyDeleteWOuldn't you love to have one of those in your back yard? And the Caboose looks very pleased with herself at the top of the wall. Cute!
ReplyDeleteour climbing gear has been packed for a few years now... I really need to get it out and dust it off.
ReplyDeleteokay, and it's probably safest to just get a new rope :)
As a mom.........YOU ROCK!!!!
ReplyDeleteCan you imagine their conversations at school.
"ya, my mom and I went rock climbing and stuff"
Totally cool!
So fun! I was just telling my husband that we should go do this! We need to find a good place around here first.
ReplyDeleteNow thats my kind of day! rock on!
ReplyDeleteTell your little Caboosie I think she is amazing. Just watching her climb up those walls makes my palms sweat!
